On Friday 10th December at 6.30pm, Derbyshire Friend will be holding their Annual General Meeting at Derby Homes Resource Centre in St. Peter’s House, Gower Street, Derby. This year’s AGM will feature guest speaker Patrick Devine (Chief Officer of Telford Race, Equality & Diversity Partnership) who will be talking about the Equality Act (2010) and the legal impact of the protected characteristics of sexual orientation and gender identity. The event will give an opportunity for the audience to raise questions and to hear the latest around equality practice and legislation. In particular, the discussion around access to post operative support and treatments for Trans people as well as IVF are two areas where we see increasing debates and rationing of resources that disproportionately affect our community.
The AGM will be followed by the annual DF Christmas Party back at the Pavilion LGB&T Centre. The party is expected to start at around 8pm and free drinks and buffet will be provided. This year’s Christmas Party will be a particularly sad occasion as it also marks the leaving party of our CEO and long standing manager, Toni Montinaro. While we are sad to see him go, we are equally as thrilled that he is moving on to exciting, new pastures! We hope that this year’s Christmas Party will give everybody the opportunity to thank Toni for all of his hard work and commitment to Derbyshire Friend over the years. He will be sadly missed!!
We hope to see you all there!
