Panthers R.F.C. the East Midlands Gay/Gay Friendly Rugby team was founded by Richard Potts in 2010 to give the East Midlands a presence at events like the Bingham Cup 2012. After a year of canvassing Pride Events, for players the interest seemed strong and so the team name and kit were launched to help the team to gel and promote itself more effectively.
During the pre-launch of LGBT History Month at RFU Headquarters it was decided that Panthers would host an LGBT History Month Game on 12th February at Rolls Royce R.F.C. in Derby. The first event of its kind in the Midlands, considering the birthplace of rugby is just down the road – this is a long time coming.
Panthers R.F.C. would like to invite any new players join them for training and anyone interested in supporting to join them on the 12th February at Rolls Royce R.F.C. in Derby for a special day with the Gay Rugby Fraternity. Check out the website http://panthersrfc.co.uk or the Facebook page.
