As you are aware big changes are happening at Derbyshire Friend following the cuts in our funding for 2014-15.
The LGB&T Pavilion Centre, 2-3 Friary Street will remain as our base for the next year following the consultation and negotiations with our landlord. Flat 1 (offices next door) is being emptied and the lease ended on 31st March.
It was with sadness that Andy Cave (CEO) and Julie Mehigan left Derbyshire Friend to take annual leave last week and will not return. Helen Jackson and Lucy France will also be leaving on the 31st March. We would like to thank all these staff for their contribution to Derbyshire Friend and wish them well in the future.
We hope to appoint a new part-time Manager (22 hours a week) in the next few weeks. In addition, the following staff remain in post:
Melvyn Fearn – Centre Administrator
Tina Ellis – Youth Worker
Beth Seymour – Trans Worker
Makinder Chahal – MSM Coordinator
In the meantime until the appointment of the new manager, the Trustees are keeping Derbyshire Friend ticking over. We have secured some new funding particularly for men who have sex with men (MSM) work and are working with staff on other funding bids.
Finally we appreciate all of the hard work done by our volunteers and are going to have to rely on their input even more in the future.
Our groups and drop-ins will contribute as before and the Pavilion LGBT Centre will be open for drop-in/internet cafe etc. Tuesday – Thursday 10.00am -1.00pm and Wednesday 3.00-6.00pm.
