Welcome to the Derbyshire LGBT+ Sexual Health page!
Here you can find out what kind of services and advice we can offer.
One of our main aims has always been to provide sexual health advice and services to LGBT+ people in Derby and Derbyshire. Free condoms, lube and dental dams are always available for LGBT+ people who live or work in Derby and Derbyshire.
My name is Ryan Whittington and I am the Sexual Health Project Worker at Derbyshire LGBT+. My role is to advise on Sexual Health within the LGBT+ community in Derbyshire, and I’m the man with the supplies. I’ve got condoms, dams and lube for all the community!
Sexual Health is nothing to be embarrassed about. It is just another part of ourselves we need to look after, just like a trip to the dentist. Nobody likes it, but we all have to do it. So for information on testing and safer sex practices you can talk to me.
There is no judgement here at Derbyshire LGBT+, and we will help you as much as we can, with whatever issues you may be facing.
It is an exciting time here for Sexual Health, as we are in the process of setting up a Sexual Health drop-in very soon, so please look out for that! Also, I’m hoping to be in Chesterfield more too, so watch this space. I’m often out at Sexual Health events all over the county, so keep an eye on our social media to find out where I am, and come see what we are up to. I am looking to build a team of Sexual Health volunteers too, so if you would be interested in volunteering for our work please get in touch with Suzanne, our Volunteer Co-ordinator.
I do work in Public Sex Environments, too – also known as cruising areas – which is work I am very passionate about. We want to make our services accessible to all.
Safer Sex packs, condoms, lube and dams are always available at our centre and at your local GUM Clinic. Please feel free to take them, or come and speak to me or one of the staff about anything.
We do provide all these services at no cost to you – however they do have a cost. Charities have been hit hard by the recent tough economic climate, and have to have the support of the people that use our services in order to survive. So please, use our services, talk to people about us, and help with fundraising.
