Andy Brown – Chair
I have been part of the Derbyshire LGBT community for many years, and was one of the founding members of Derbyshire LGBT+ in 1983. I believe that I have the time and skills needed to help provide leadership and direction for the organisation into the future. I have a particular interest in the development of services at Derbyshire LGBT+ and the outcomes that are produced. We must continue to move forwards and face the challenges that this will bring. I fully realise that our organisation cannot afford to stagnate and I am part of a team that ensures we become even stronger, providing the best possible services to the LGBT community. My considerable experience in a managerial work role and knowledge of Derbyshire LGBT+ allows me to transfer and use my skills to the benefit of the organisation.
Jim Rand – Company Secretary
I first came into contact with Derbyshire LGBT+ as president of the LGBT & Friends Society at the University of Derby, when I was a member of Derby LGBT Community Forum, which I now co-chair. After graduating, I wanted to get more involved in Derbyshire LGBT+, so I recently joined the trustee board, where I’ve had a lovely warm welcome and I’m really enjoying being part of the team. I think Trans men need to represent ourselves and share our unique viewpoints, because we’re not visible enough within the LGBT community, let alone society in general.
Dan Merrison – Treasurer
I have been a volunteer at Derbyshire LGBT+ for over 10 years, initially as a Switchboard Worker. Since then my role has grown to include letter/email support and providing one-to-one support for members of the weekly Men’s Group. I also have an interest in electronic media, contributing to the Derbyshire LGBT+ social media presence. I feel that my personal experiences and my work with Derbyshire LGBT+ have given me a great understanding of the LGBT community’s real needs.
